GOODWOOD OVAL REFERENCE GROUP
GROUP GUIDELINES
OBJECTIVE and PURPOSE
The aim of the Goodwood Oval Reference Group (GORG) is to provide a forum for liaison with Unley Council, Goodwood Oval Sporting bodies and residents.
Objective; GORG provides a forum for residents, clubs and Unley Council [where appropriate] to share information and concerns and to participate in long term planning.

MEMBERSHIP
The Reference Group shall be comprised of:
Two elected members (councillors) from Clarence Park Ward and one from Goodwood Ward.
Up to five Resident Representatives
One Representative from each sporting club who lease the Goodwood Oval facilities (Cricket, Football, Hockey, Tennis).
Term of appointment:
Elected Members; four year terms to co-incide with Council elections
Resident Representatives; four years (half way through Councillors terms)
Club representatives; as determined by the respective Club.

ESTABLISHMENT OF REFERENCE GROUP
GORG is established by the local residents. The local residents being residents in the catchment area bounded by Victoria Street, East Avenue, Seaford railway line as seen on the website.
GORG will liaise with Council via the Elected Members as appropriate.
The process for appointing Resident Representatives members is as follows:
Call for Expression of Interest in the City of Unley column in the Eastern Courier with the kind assistance of the Council.
If more than 5 expressions of interest are received for resident representation a selection process and determination will be undertaken by the elected members.
The process for filling a casual vacancy for a resident representative will be at the discretion of the elected Chairperson.
Resident representatives may reapply. There is no limit to the number of terms a resident representative may serve.
Each sporting body is to select its own representative and is to advise GORG in writing of the nominated representative and a proxy for meetings and any subsequent changes.
OFFICER BEARERS
The Chairperson shall be appointed at the first meeting of the new term for a period of one year by a vote of resident representatives.
A Minutes Secretary shall be appointed at the first meeting of the new term for a period of one year by a vote of resident representatives.
A Communications / Website Officer shall be appointed at the first meeting of the new term for a period of one year by a vote of resident representatives.
A resident representative may occupy multiple roles.
The Chairperson must enjoy the confidence of GORG as a whole and may be removed at any point by a majority vote of GORG members.
MEETING PROTOCOLS
In the absence of an Office Bearer that role shall be appointed by a vote of resident representatives. All members are to have an opportunity to participate in discussions in an open and encouraging manner.
Council staff are welcome to attend meetings as observers and impart information and updates.
All meetings are open to the public.
REFERENCE GROUP FRAMEWORK
Any concerns raised within GORG that an Elected Member determines as requiring further consideration by the Council will be brought to Council’s attention as they see fit.
Urgent operational matters should be raised in the first instance, to the Elected Member(s).
SCHEDULE AND TIME OF MEETINGS
Meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of each quarter at 7PM. The meetings will be displayed on the GORG website.
